Poems: A World Without

Photo: Mayan woman, Panajachel, Guatemala, April 2011

Prompt from Poetic Asides: A world without (blank).

Toll Lament

A world without disease
would have choked eons
ago. All must die, some
sooner than others, few
without grief. A world
without grief would be
a world without love.
So many tolls to pay.

Single Strand

It takes only a single
thread broken to unravel
a whole sweater. Be
careful with your scissors.

Two good ones today, Peggy. So true that a world without grief would be a world without love. And yes...once something starts to unravel, it is hard not to lose the whole thing.

Wow, two amazing poems, Peggy. They are both unique and say so much. Wow..those toll takers are killers aren't they but you make a good point.
